General
Project Description
For the Duqm 500MW/2000MWh BESS project in Oman, our company supplies a online partial discharge monitoring system for transformer. Designed for extreme coastal desert conditions, it operates reliably under high dust, water, and salt exposure, with IP66 and C5-M corrosion protection. The system supports AC220V, 50Hz power supply and RS485 communication.
Delivered to Oman in 2026, the SUN-IGuard-503 model complies with IEC 60270 and features three monitoring channels. Using high-sensitivity PD sensors and intelligent algorithms, it detects insulation defects, corona, and surface discharges, enabling early identification of partial discharge faults to support predictive maintenance. Remote data transmission enables seamless integration with the BESS monitoring system for unattended operation.
Our partial discharge monitoring solution delivers reliable transformer health management for the Oman Duqm BESS project, enhancing power system safety and intelligence.

Ultra-high frequency partial discharge sensor
|

UHF sensors play a critical role by effectively avoiding low-frequency interference (e.g., corona, switching noise), ensuring high signal-to-noise ratio. They enable early detection of pico-coulomb level discharges, providing high sensitivity for incipient faults. When deployed in arrays, they allow rough spatial localization via time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) methods. Operating non-intrusively and in real-time without interrupting transformer operation, UHF sensors also aid in identifying PD types (e.g., floating particles, voids) through spectral analysis. Together with HFCT and ultrasonic sensors, they form a robust, multi-sensor diagnostic system. |
