Online Partial Discharge Monitoring System for Transformer

Online partial discharge monitoring system for transformer is designed specifically for monitoring the insulation status of transformer equipment. It uses ultra-high frequency sensor technology to detect partial discharge signals inside the transformer in real time. Through data analysis software and intelligent diagnostic systems in the background, the partial discharge signals are analyzed and processed to evaluate the insulation status of the transformer, determine the type and approximate location of defects, and provide maintenance recommendations.

I. Product Introduction:

The SUN-IGuard-503 transformer-specific online partial discharge monitoring system is dedicated to online monitoring and early warning of power transformer equipment insulation status, exclusively optimized for transformer scenarios and different from general GIS partial discharge monitoring solutions.

The system consists of sensors, detection and signal processing units, partial discharge IEDs, and system servers. Multiple partial discharge IEDs can form a distributed monitoring system to realize simultaneous online monitoring of multiple power devices.

Equipped with professional UHF sensing technology, the system captures ultra-high frequency electromagnetic wave signals generated by internal partial discharge of transformers. For in-service operating transformers, oil valve type UHF sensors are adopted and installed at the oil drain valve on the transformer tank wall without affecting normal equipment operation. For transformers in newly built substations, built-in UHF sensors can be installed on the inner wall of the transformer body with reserved mounting holes. Applicable to substations of all scales to realize real-time transformer partial discharge monitoring and early warning.

VIII. Real-world cooperation cases

product-332-353

Our online partial discharge monitoring system for transformer delivers real-time tracking of transformer insulation conditions, enabling early detection of potential failures. It triggers instant alarms when discharge levels exceed 100pC and identifies faults like insulation breakdown through multi-dimensional data correlation. By providing accurate early warnings, the system helps prevent unplanned outages and supports a shift to condition-based maintenance, ensuring reliable power supply for critical operations such as the Bugumaxi potassium salt mine.

IX. Application Scenarios

  • 1.Substation in the urban core area
  • 2.Ultra high voltage/ultra-high voltage hub substation
  • 3.New energy boosting station (wind power, photovoltaic, energy storage)
  • 4.Old substation (equipment operating for more than 15 years)
  • 5.Industrial park/large industrial and mining enterprise substation
  • 6.Remote unmanned substation
  • 7.High voltage substation directly connected to GIS and transformer

XIV. FAQ

Q1. What technologies are used for partial discharge monitoring?

A1: It combines UHF (for interference resistance), HFCT (for quantitative data), and ultrasonic sensors (for location support), with cross-verification between technologies.

Q2. Can the system locate discharge sources?

A2: Yes, it enables precise 3D location of discharge points inside transformers using multi-sensor time difference analysis.

Q3. How does it handle electromagnetic interference?

A3: Through hardware filtering and AI algorithms that distinguish real discharges from interference, verified by multi-technology signals.

Q4. Does installation require a power outage?

A4: UHF sensor installation needs a brief outage; HFCT sensors can be installed live by certified staff following site safety rules.

Q5. Will installation affect transformer operation?

A5: No. All components are passive or low-power and comply with safety standards without impacting transformer performance.

Q6. How is discharge risk determined?

A6: The system analyzes trends: stable patterns indicate lower risk while rising activity triggers tiered alerts, with no universal safety threshold.
