Chromatography sees what's hidden, protecting the transformer's heart - intelligent and proactive.
General
Project Description
For the Duqm 500MW/2000MWh BESS project in Oman, our company supplies a transformer oil chromatography online monitoring device. Designed for extreme coastal desert conditions, it operates at -40°C to +70°C, 5% to 95% humidity, 70kPa to 110kPa, with AC240V, 50Hz, 2000W power consumption.
The device monitors nine gases (H₂, CO, CO₂, CH₄, C₂H₄, C₂H₂, C₂H₆, N₂, O₂) per IEC 60567. With IP66 and C5-M corrosion protection, it withstands high dust, water, and salt exposure.
Using high-sensitivity sensors and intelligent algorithms, it tracks dissolved gas trends, detects latent faults (partial discharge, overheating, arcing), and supports predictive maintenance. Remote data transmission enables seamless integration with the BESS monitoring system for unattended operation.
Our oil chromatography solution delivers reliable transformer health management for the Oman Duqm BESS project, enhancing power system safety and intelligence.

Manufacturing
Electrical Control and Data Acquisition Module
PLC/Control Unit: Responsible for the logic control of the entire system, such as oil sample extraction, oil-gas separation, chromatographic analysis, data calculation, and alarm judgment. Data Acquisition and Communication Module: Acquires chromatographic data and sensor signals, and uploads the results to the background monitoring system. Power Supply Module and Terminal Block: Provides stable power to various components of the equipment and realizes signal distribution and conversion. |
Oil Inlet and Outlet
Oil Inlet: The collection entrance connecting to the transformer sampling port. It draws insulating oil into the monitoring cabinet as the first step of sampling. Internal valves and filters prevent impurities and air from entering, ensuring oil sample purity. Oil Outlet: The return outlet. After oil-gas separation and gas detection, oil samples are returned to the transformer through the outlet, forming a complete cycle. This design enables online operation without power outages or oil loss. |
Final assembly
Module Installation: Install all core modules into the rack. Ensure secure mounting, leak-free seals, and correct wiring. Oil Circuit Module: Connect the inlet and outlet oil ports to the pump and valves. Verify leak-free closed-loop circulation. Sensors and Detectors: Connect the tower to the detectors. Shield signal cables. Install the temperature sensor and trace water sensor. Wiring: Complete power, grounding, communication, and alarm connections using shielded cables. Testing: Perform leak tests on the oil and gas circuits. Power on and verify one-button start, temperature stability, baseline, and alarm functions. Sealing: Close the rack, verify the IP protection rating, and affix the nameplate. |
