Main Applications of Dry-Type Transformers

1. Although dry-type distribution transformers have superior technical performance indicators, their higher price and associated costs mean they are not suitable for all situations. They are primarily used in situations where oil-immersed distribution transformers are not appropriate.

2. In locations with high fire safety requirements, in important buildings with high population density (such as subways, high-rise buildings, theaters, shopping malls, airport terminals, etc.), and in oil-free power distribution systems in main factory workshops (such as power plants, steel mills, petrochemical plants, etc.), dry-type distribution transformers should be selected according to design specifications.

3. When space is limited, dry-type distribution transformers are preferable if the technical and economic indicators are reasonable.

4. Considering the initial investment, the costs of oil drainage facilities, explosion-proof walls, waste oil treatment, operation, maintenance, and losses associated with oil-immersed power transformers, and after a technical and economic comparison confirms the cost is reasonable, dry-type distribution transformers are preferable.

5. Dry-type distribution transformers are preferable for substations connected to residential buildings and substations without independent transformer rooms. 6. For locations where it is difficult to resolve the environmental pollution caused by oil discharge from oil-immersed power transformer accidents, dry-type distribution transformers can be selected.
